Inspired to create JOIIA
Facing surgery for the first time filled me with overwhelming fear. I was terrified about what might happen and whether I would make it through. However, just as vividly as my fear, I remember the compassion and steady hands of the nurses and doctors who surrounded me. They treated me not just as a patient, but as a person, ensuring I felt seen, heard, and comforted during my most vulnerable moments.
That experience inspired JOIIA — a line of scrubs to honor these healthcare heroes. With 20 years in the garment industry, I saw the uncomfortable, worn-out scrubs many wore and knew they deserved better. My team and I sought out fabric offering 99.9% protection from bacteria, making lightweight, durable scrubs, because we want to ensure accessibility. For professionals, these scrubs are more than their uniforms, they are armor that protects them while they care for us.
